District 45 appoints Dr. Annetta Spychalski as new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction

Dr. Annetta Spychalski

At its April 18 meeting, the District 45 Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Annetta Spychalski as the new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

As an educator for over 25 years, Dr. Spychalski brings many unique experiences in roles as an administrator, principal, reading specialist, classroom teacher, as well as a grant writer for federal, state, and local funding.

“Dr. Spychalski rose to the top of a very talented pool of candidates for this critical position,” said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Palmisano. “We believe Annetta will take the lead of one of our most critical departments, bringing great skills, experiences, and a depth of knowledge to District 45.  She will be a key part of our District team in achieving our student achievement goals.”

Most recently, Dr. Spychalski has served as director of grants and literacy in District 44.

“It is an honor to join this outstanding school community,” said Dr. Spychalski. “I look forward to working in support of our students, parents, and teachers. I feel so fortunate to join this incredible team of educators.”

In her previous role, Dr. Spychalski organized, directed, and supervised curriculum planning and development, and managed all state and federal grants (Title I, II, III, IV, PFA, IDEA, ESSER), and various other grants.

Dr. Spychalski instituted a dual language program and wrote her doctoral dissertation entitled “The Implementation of a Two-Way Dual Language Program and the Impact on Teaching and Learning.”

Dr. Spychalski also facilitated a district-wide MTSS process, developed and maintained the curriculum department budget, and supervised curriculum coordinators and support staff.

Dr. Spychalski has experience as an adjunct professor, consultant, principal, reading specialist, and classroom teacher.

Dr. Spychalski earned her doctorate in educational leadership, a master of arts in administration; a master of arts in reading; and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.

Dr. Spychalski will begin on July 1, 2022.
