On Friday, August 15, 2025, Schafer Elementary School welcomed the new school year with its annual Back to School Family Picnic, hosted by the PTA at the scenic Lombard Lagoon. The event brought together more than 30 families, all excited to celebrate the start of another year of learning and community at Schafer.
Families enjoyed a sunny afternoon of fun and connection, with children playing together at the park while parents mingled and caught up after the summer break. The atmosphere was festive as families relaxed at picnic tables and shared a delicious variety of food. A popular highlight of the day was the Kona Ice truck, serving up refreshing snow cones that added a cool treat to the warm day.
The Schafer PTA organized the picnic as a way to build community and welcome new and returning families back to school. The turnout and positive energy made the event a clear success, setting a strong, positive tone for the start of the academic year.
With the support of its families and the dedication of school staff and PTA volunteers, Schafer Elementary—home of the Schafer Sharks—is looking ahead to a wonderful and successful school year.
