During the week of St. Patrick’s Day, our first grade sharks accepted the challenge of catching the sneaky little leprechaun that has spent over thirty years playing tricks on our sharks each St. Patrick’s Day. They worked in teams to plan and create leprechaun traps. Leprechauns are known to be attracted to shiny objects, so many groups found creative ways to incorporate as many shiny objects into their traps as possible. On Thursday afternoon, the traps were set up in each classroom and our sharks left confident that they were going to be the ones to finally catch the sneaky little leprechaun. When they returned to school on Friday, they entered their rooms only to discover the leprechaun struck again and unfortunately was not caught. As the first grade sharks were looking around their classrooms inspecting all of the things the leprechaun did, they spotted something outside their classroom windows. Upon first look, it looked like it was a leprechaun! The leprechaun made its way around the building and entered the first grade doors. Our sharks thought they had another chance to catch the sneaky leprechaun that messed with their classrooms, but when they got closer they found out the leprechaun was actually the one and only Mrs. Courington! While our sharks didn’t catch the real leprechaun, they did get a day full of wonderful memories that will stay with them for years to come.
