Get to Know Our Sharks: Front Office Edition

Front Office

Angie Turner

Mrs. Turner is a long time veteran shark. She has served in many different roles. She started as a Schafer parent then PTA president followed by working in the lunchroom and is now in her second year as one of Schafer’s secretaries. 

When she thinks about her own school experience, she shares that her favorite teacher was her 6th grade teacher. She had a great sense of humor and boosted Mrs. Turner’s confidence to speak more in class.

 

Fun Facts:

Family: She is married to the coolest husband ever and they have 2 awesome daughters.

Favorite school subject: English & Art

Favorite color: Orange

Favorite pet: Dogs are the best!

Favorite hobby: She enjoys musical theatre and escape rooms.

Favorite drink: Coffee

Favorite sports team: Da Bears!

Favorite place visited: Jamaica

Surprising fact: She used to dance in a company that performed throughout Chicago.

 

 

Wandalyse Worrell

Mrs. W

Mrs. W is a veteran shark that came back home last year to a new role as one of the building secretaries, after spending many years in Early Childhood. 

Mrs. W shares that her favorite part about being in education is running into students/families a few years down the road and hearing them mention some small act or interaction with me that made a lasting impression. When she thinks about her own school experience, she shares that her favorite teacher was Mrs. Whitaker because she always took the time to listen.

Mrs. W wants our Sharks to know that she BELIEVES in them. That they are SMART individuals and to never allow anyone to tell them differently. Her wish for the 2023-24 school year (and every school year) is for parents, teachers and our administration to work together. Ensuring that all of our students feel supported and have the proper tools they need to be successful.

Family: She is married. They have 3 kids, 3 dogs and 1 grandpup. Her family is her world. 

Favorite school subject: Reading

Favorite pet: Dogs

Favorite hobby: Photography ~ She loves taking pics, especially candid shots

Favorite food/restaurant: Benihana

Surprising fact: She has a 26 year old son, a 23 year old daughter and a 19 year old son.

Favorite quote: Let your smile change the world but don’t let the world change your smile 😊

 

 

Lisa True

Nurse Lisa is in her second year at Schafer as our School Nurse. 

Nurse Lisa shares that her favorite part about being in education is the kids, they are all so unique and genuine to themselves. When she thinks about her own school experience, she shares that her favorite teacher was Mrs. Hayes (from Jackson Middle School). She was so open and really engaged with the students. She made you excited to learn.

Nurse Lisa wants our Sharks to know to be true to yourself, you are the center of your story, so make it about what you love and what makes you happy. Her wish for the 2023-24 school year is that nobody gets sick!

 

Fun Facts:

Years in education: 5

Birthday: 5/6

Family: She has 3 kids, all teenagers now, 2 in high school and one who recently graduated. They also have a house full of pets, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 rabbit, 2 mice, and a plethora of fish.

Favorite school subject: Anything science, especially biology and physics. She loves finding out how things work, whether it’s the human body or a compact disc player

Favorite school memory: When she was a one-to-one nurse, she attended field trips with the kids and they got to see the dolphin show at the Shedd Aquarium. The seal came and sat right in front of them and sprayed them with water.

Favorite color: Blue-Green

Favorite pet: She loves both cats and dogs, but she does really like going out walking with my dogs so if she could only have one thing she would have to say a dog

Favorite hobby: She loves to hike with her dog and read, often she does both together

Favorite drink: Coke or iced coffee

Favorite food/restaurant: Impossible burger and fries 

Favorite music: Her taste is too eclectic to pick a favorite

Favorite place visited: Upstate Wisconsin/north shore Minnesota- she loves the waterfalls 

Dream vacation: Somewhere with mountains and a lake or river, she wants to be able to hike all day and then cool off in the water at the end of the day. 

Surprising fact: Probably how many pets she has or that she is a vegetarian

Hidden Talent: She knows how to sew.

Heather Pavlovsky

Mrs. P

Mrs. Pavlovsky is Schafer’s permanent substitute. 

Mrs. Pavlovsky shares that her favorite part about being in education is helping kids be and do their best. When she thinks about her own school experience, she shares that her favorite teacher was Mrs. Pam White, her kindergarten teacher. She taught Mrs. Pavlovsky the alphabet using “The Letter People.” If she could choose one teacher’s class to enroll in for a day, she would choose any kindergarten class at Schafer. They all make learning fun!

Mrs. Pavlovsky wants our Sharks to know to be true to you. Her wish for the 2023-24 school year is for  everyone at Schafer good health and happiness this year!

Birthday: 10/1

Family: She has been married to her husband, Tony, for 19 years. They have 2 sons. Roy is a sophomore at Willowbrook. Hank is in 8th grade at Jackson. 

Favorite school subject: Science

Favorite school memory: She played a stegosaurus in my kindergarten play. They are her favorite dinosaurs to this day!

Favorite color: Yellow

Favorite pet: Dogs. She has 3 dogs!

Favorite hobby: Reading fiction books and playing card games

Favorite drink: Diet Mountain Dew

Favorite food/restaurant: Cheeseburgers from Alfie’s Inn

Favorite sports team: Chicago Cubs

Favorite music: The Beatles

Favorite place visited: Galena, Illinois

Dream vacation: Stay at a cottage in the woods. 

Surprising fact: She likes to play pinochle and euchre

Hidden talents: She is a pretty good cook
