Mrs. Julie Morse began her time at Schafer Elementary School as a classroom teacher in 1999. In 2013, she became Schafer’s assistant principal where she helped lead Schafer until last year when she stepped up to serve as interim principal at Stevenson Elementary School for the second half of the school year. Now she has come back home to lead her sharks as the new Principal of Schafer Elementary School.
When she is not at school, she spends time with her husband Chad and two step children as well as her two parrots; Max, an umbrella cockatoo and Cosmo, an African gray. She has had them both since they were just months old and now they are 20 years and 19 years respectively!
She shares that her favorite part about being in education is watching our students grow and learn as well as watching our staff get excited as their students meet their academic and SEL goals. When she thinks about her own school experience, she shared that her favorite teacher was Mr. Crabtree. He was a 6th grade math teacher for her, but when she entered 7th and was struggling with math he met with her after school to tutor her. He not only helped her get through the new math content, but he did it because he believed in her and wanted her to be successful. Mrs. Morse wants her Sharks to know to never give up on your dreams and know that once you are a Schafer Shark, you are always a Schafer Shark! You are forever a part of something special.
Her wish for the 2023-2024 school year is to let this be the beginning of an incredible journey filled with knowledge, friendships, and exciting discoveries. #SchaferStrong
