May 25, 2023 / Schafer

This is not a goodbye, but a hello to new adventures!

As the 2023 school year is coming to a close, it is time to celebrate and recognize two of our amazing teachers, Mrs. Templeton and Mrs. Pine, as they finish out their final year in teaching and head off into retirement.

Mrs. Pine has taught for 32 years. She started out at Ardmore Elementary before coming to Schafer where she has been for the last 24 years at Schafer. When being interviewed by one of our student council members, she shared that her favorite subject that she taught was reading and her favorite school event that she looked forward to attending each year was the 1st grade musical. Mrs. Pine’s favorite memory of Schafer with students is watching them learn and grow throughout the year. Her favorite memory of Schafer with staff is making amazing friendships. She is most looking forward to traveling during her retirement. If there was one piece of advice she wants our sharks to remember it is, “Try your best and don’t give up!”

Mrs. Templeton has taught for 37 years, with 35 of those years being in District 45. Prior to her 31 years at Schafer, she also taught at North, Ardmore, and Iowa Center. When she was interviewed by one of our student council members, she shared that her favorite subject that she taught was reading and her favorite school event that she looked forward to attending each year were the family reading nights. Mrs. Templeton’s favorite memory of Schafer with students is watching them reading together. Her favorite memory of Schafer with staff is after school book clubs. She is most looking forward to traveling during her retirement, including going to Yellowstone this summer. If there was one piece of advice she wants our sharks to remember it is, “You can do it!!”

These two first grade teachers have made everlasting impacts on so many lives and we have been blessed to have them in our Schafer family. You both have inspired so many staff and community members as well as helped countless students to achieve their full potential. Thank you for all that you have done for Schafer and the D45 community. Best wishes to both of you in your retirement and we look forward to seeing you both back at Schafer to volunteer!

“A truly great teacher is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget.”
