All of our Sharks have been working hard as they make their way through the different units in ARC. Our first and second grade classes found special ways to celebrate the completion of Unit 2. In first grade, students became experts on an animal of their choice, as they learned about Wild and Endangered Animals. Each student created their own book to be shared at an Animal Expo. Other classes were then able to come visit the Animal Expo to listen to our first graders present their animal projects. “My favorite part was seeing how excited all of my students were to show off all of their hard work on their book,” shared 1st grade teacher Susan Campbell.
In second grade, our sharks learned all about bugs and their ecosystems. “The 2nd graders used classroom texts and online sources to learn about their bugs. Then they wrote and illustrated their own informational books. We are all so proud of them and loved that we could celebrate all their hard work,” shared 2nd grade teacher Lauren Wegner. To celebrate the end of Unit 2, they held a publishing party so students could share their books with their friends.
We can’t wait to see what our sharks will do in Unit 3!
