During February’s early dismissal staff meeting, Schafer staff took the time to review the most recent Winter MAP data and celebrate all the growth that has been made across all grade levels. The students at Schafer increased the percentage of students who made their growth target in math from 47% in the fall to 67% in the winter. In reading, there was an increase from 44% in the fall to 47% in the winter. However, when you take into account standard error which measures the accuracy between the students score and the average (which means that on any given day a students score could be higher or lower then what was recorded), 78% of students met their target in math and 64% of students made their growth target in reading.
Mr. Heath, Schafer’s Assistant Principal, shared, “This is amazing growth for the first half of the year! We were so happy to send out so many window clings to parents to celebrate this growth. The students have been working hard and the efforts of the teachers and support staff are REALLY making a difference in student learning. Everyone’s hard work REALLY matters. This includes the help we’re getting at home from parents who help make sure the students are reading 30 min every night or practicing math facts. We’re all working together to move the school forward!”
We are so proud of all of our Sharks and can’t wait to see how they do in the spring! Keep working hard Sharks! Goooooooo Sharks!
